That is FANTASTIC scoopage. Mucho props to the famous Lipp sisters! There’s only one thing–the third photo isn’t showing up, at least not on my browser. I will say that Betty looks fantastic in those clothes. Tres chic. The backdrop in the 2nd photo looks a little like that riding academy / stables that I talked about in a previous post…

From Betty’s clothing, it appears that she is involved with dressage (English horse riding). This implies a very expensive hobby. So I’m guessing that even though she knows Don sexually cheats on her, the perks are just TOO good to give up.
Note that in the first episode Midge makes the comment that she knows most of Don’s pitches. And she specifically mentions a tobacco presentation problem that he faced seven years earlier. This implies to me that Don probably was sexually unfaithful to Betty since the beginning of their marriage. AND it implies that he married her not for love for her presentation value….she’s got that upper class look.
Now as a very fun factoid:
What real life billionaire’s son has appeared in Mad Men and what episode?
I will answer the question on Wednesday and explain how this fits in with Betty and horses!

One was Maxwell Huckabee, and the other is listed as Zachariah James-Jadon Evans, who I suspect are twins. The listings all over the place are a bit nebulous (and, surprise surprise, none of these names produced any results when I searched for them on the AMC site), but I think Maxwell was the original, and the Evans boys were the replacement.

Deb, we have no confirmation on the monthage. We guessed Valentine’s Day, which is 14, but who rides in February? We don’t know the exact.

And Deb and I had this whole conversation about how I see more Tippi Hendren than Grace Kelly (when looking at Betty) and Deb says how Tippi Hendren is Grace Kelly (was being groomed by Hitch to be the replacement) but whatever. Good call.

And, yes, Tippi Hedren was groomed by Hitchcock to replace Grace Kelly but both women had entirely different energies. Imo, Grace Kelly does not come across as nervous and uptight as Tippi does. I can see what you mean about Betty being more Tippi than Grace bc, say what you will about Grace Kelly, she at least comes across as, well, graceful in her own skin in a way that Tippi doesn’t. Imo, anyway. And Betty strikes me as nervous too. As if she were not quite sure of the way she comes across…
(Hitchcock was a depraved bastard, btw. On the set of The Birds he gave little Melanie Griffith a tiny coffin as a present–with a perfect replica of Tippi inside.)

Betty’s breeches are all wrong! The tight stretchy type did not come in until the mid-1970s. She should be wearing the old-fashioned kind with the flared thighs – check out contemporary pictures of Jackie Kennedy, for example.
